Benefits of Reiki
I live, eat, breathe, and even sleep Reiki. It's a therapy that captivated me from the start. Learning from my Reiki Master, Krishni Borang, I’ve incorporated Reiki into my daily life, helping me navigate its ups and downs. This profound and calming practice has even initiated members of my family. My children, when younger, found it relaxing and comforting, a way to connect with themselves and with me.
Reiki, pronounced 'Ray-key,' is Japanese for Universal Life Energy. It’s a system of natural healing to regain harmony and wholeness within, using the hands. During a session, a person remains fully clothed while the practitioner moves their hands on or just over the body. Experiences vary, but many feel a sense of inner peace, calm, and warmth.
Levels of Reiki
Reiki is after all energy, it was channelled down to Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. Since then, his knowledge , experience and practise has been passed on from Master to student in the Usui Shiki Ryoho tradition. Reiki is not a religion; it's available to anyone who wishes to learn, often deepening their spiritual path.
Level 1: First Heal Thyself
Level 1 focuses on self-healing and personal growth. You learn the basics of Reiki and how to use it on yourself and others. This level lays the foundation of understanding energy healing and your Reiki journey.
Level 2: Practitioner Level
At Level 2, you deepen your practice, learning to send Reiki over distances and use symbols to enhance the energy. This level qualifies you to practice Reiki professionally ie in hospitals and hospices etc.
Level 3: Master/Teacher
Level 3 is the Master/Teacher level. It’s about mastery. Becoming a Master of your Self. To find your truth and serve with honesty and gratitude. Some go on to become Teachers of Reiki, others prefer to be still and let the Master energy flow in natural alignment of their Soul. This title requires patience, practice, wisdom, and authenticity. Even as a Reiki Master, you remain a student, continuously learning and growing.
I first learned Reiki in 2014, and it’s been a daily practice ever since. In June 2018 I felt ready to be initiated into my Reiki Master Level and went off to Gothenburg, Sweden, to a Qi Gong retreat and the same weekend I was initiated into a Reiki Master This powerful experience marked a significant shift for me. I'm always learning, constantly amazed by new insights. In September 2021, I became an active member of the The Reiki Association (TRA), aiming to support the Reiki community and promote its accessibility. Witnessing the benefits benefits of giving Reiki first-hand to my clients, I am now introducing Reiki into my Doula work, promoting its use within the perinatal world to families, Doulas and birth workers.
